Let's face it, these are crazy times.  Pilot shortages are affecting military and civilian organizations.  Every leader is trying to do more with less.  Many pilots are feeling the squeeze and leaving their military airframe as soon as their commitment is up!  This means our most capable aviators are taking their evaluator and instructor experience and going on to jobs that meet their family's needs.  

What is a leader to do?  Upgrade faster, have less experienced aviators in more stressful roles while needing everyone to take on more additional duties?  This just drives more pilots out of the military and accepts additional risk.

Military aviation is at a crossroads, if we don't find ways to improve morale and keep experience, we will pay in accidents that could have been avoided.  We are "one mistake high," lined up for takeoff in mountainous terrain with too much weight...if we don't make some changes prior to V1/committed then things could get ugly fast.
